There will never be another Bella. She was our first purebred Flat-Coat and a better introduction to the breed and sport of purebred dogs, there could not have been. We learned all about conformation, obedience, field and agility together ... and Bella was ever so forgiving of my mistakes! While she liked the cheese in obedience and enjoyed retrieving her birds, Bella’s true passion was agility ... perhaps because she got to do it with me. I was honored to be her partner each and every run and she represented the breed very well throughout her career. She also welcomed our two youngest children into the pack and was the world’s best baby monitor. Her greatest gift to me, aside from her wonderful companionship for 9.5 years, was her puppies! She is the dam to 3 Champions in her one and only litter, and her solid conformation, trainability and superb Flat-Coat temperament is still shining through in her grandkids.
Bella left us with the same grace she always showed in life ... she simply did not wake up one fine August morning. It was devastating at the time but now in hindsight, I realize that it was Bella’s final gift to me. She never told us of the cancer that was growing inside her ... or the Hemangiosarcoma that would take her from us in the night. She did not make me have to choose if the time was right, nor did she spend her last weeks back and forth to the vet. She lived each and every day to the fullest until she just couldn’t anymore. We should all be so lucky!
She will always be my heart dog ... and I still miss her each and every day!
